What a wonderful place is Yellow Rock Cottage, surely the finest location on Islay. We enjoyed waking each morning to the astounding views across the Sound of Islay to Jura, with cormorants, herons and even a seal swimming past our bedroom window, as if to say, “Good morning”. Often we would hear the hauntingly beautiful rutting sounds of the red deer on Jura. It was hard to leave the cottage with all its comforts and charms to go and explore the wonders of Islay and Jura, as we preferred to sit with our feet almost in the sea, entranced by the ever-changing light over the Paps. In the evening shoals of bright orange fish would intrigue us, darting among the rocks and kelp. Christine - “ The Lady of the Isles” - is a very kind and helpful host. We are indebted to her for her hospitality and her wonderful stories of Islay.
